Public presence
Media & digital
Where my work appears in public — the one social account I maintain, the press record of the expeditions, and how to reach me for editorial enquiries.
Digital presence
One account, kept deliberately.
I maintain a single public account, on X. It is where updates on expeditions and engagements appear first, alongside commentary on regional cooperation, youth participation and the cultural and civilisational links across the Bay of Bengal.
I have chosen not to list profiles on other platforms here. A personal website that displays a row of social icons pointing nowhere — or worse, pointing at accounts that are not mine — is a small dishonesty, and this site avoids it. If an account is not shown below, treat any profile using my name on that platform as unverified.
For anything that requires a reply, email and telephone remain the reliable routes. Both are on the contact page.
Verification note
Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube icons are intentionally not displayed on this site, because no verified profile on those platforms has been supplied for publication. This page will be updated if that changes.

Commentary
The subjects I return to in public.
Regional cooperation around the Bay of Bengal
Developments in BIMSTEC, sub-regional connectivity, and the case for treating South and Southeast Asia as one continuous space rather than two.
Youth participation
What meaningful involvement looks like in practice, and why most youth programming stops short of it.
Heritage, culture and civilisational links
Sites, routes and shared inheritance across the region — and the difference between a shared story and a contested one.
Expedition and engagement updates
Progress on initiatives, institutional partnerships and observances as they happen.
For editors and producers
Media enquiries.
I am available for interviews, background briefings and written comment on South Asian regional cooperation, BIMSTEC and the Bay of Bengal, Track-II diplomacy, youth participation and cultural and heritage diplomacy.
For accuracy, please use the name Rahul Laxman Patil and the descriptor researcher, youth engagement advocate and Track-II diplomacy strategist. Where an initiative is referenced, the details on the initiatives page are the version I can stand behind.
Contact
Enquiries are answered personally.
